CentOS udev disable floppy

Udev will load floppy and other legacy drivers even if you don't have this kind of devices around, often massively increasing your boot time.

Reason is that the admin is supposed to configure /etc/sysconfig/udev-stw.
Unfortunately nobody tends to know about that.

Remove floppy from the following file, and maybe even all but nvram while you're at it.

host:/etc/sysconfig # cat udev-stw 
MODULES="nvram floppy parport lp snd-powermac"
